Case Study
Moonbeam
passive viewers to passionate backers
Moonbeam teamed up with Failure Island to create their BackerKit flagship video. We helped them spotlight the issues plaguing popular streaming platforms and rise above them. The result? A movement that goes beyond just watching to truly investing.

Ready for a live streaming revolution?

Problem
David vs. Goliath
Moonbeam knew they were going up against a force in the live-streaming industry. Its competitor, Twitch, is the industry standard. But Moonbeam offers a better alternative, where live-streamers are protected against hateful comments and contributors are paid fairly. How do you go up against the most established brand in your industry?
With video.
Specifically, with video that shows streamers how it should feel to log on and use a platform that values its creators more than its bottom line.
Process
crafted by collaboration
Guided by creative inspiration like Fallout: VaulTec, a badass breakout monologue from Andor, and Apple's 1984 ad, we crafted 4 compelling creative directions for Moonbeam. The Moonbeam team chose our favorite pitch, called “For the Love of the Game."
Our creative exploration included mood boards, scripting, scouting and casting. Then, we moved into production—in this case, 3 days of shooting. Finally, we moved into post-production, including editing, VFX and feedback rounds with stakeholders.

Solution
finding a beam of brand inspiration
The video pitch featured their end users—the streamers—as the heroes. What got streamers into this life in the first place? For most, it wasn’t money. It was the love of the game.
The Moonbeam ad gets to the heart of what live-streaming should look like at its best. A glimpse at the way streamers should be treated by the companies profited off them. And then, it offers the solution.
A new way to stream. That looks familiar—and feels like home.
